Following the painful breakup of a serious, yearlong relationship I entered a period of depression in June, and am only emerging–slowly–very recently. One symptom of depression is excessive sleeping, and boy have I been sleeping excessively!
So I went to the doctor today to follow up on my surgery. Last year I found out my left carotid artery was 95 percent occluded and I needed emergency surgery. I was scared witless, naturally, but walked through it with the help of my sponsor and friends. Needless to say my recovery program helped tremendously.
Did Michael Vick abuse dogs because of unresolved traumatic childhood experiences? Was it an urban environment that allowed him to torture creatures that trusted him? Was it simply the need to exert control over helpless animals because Vick felt so powerless over his life? Will we ever find out what it was that caused him to act in such a ruthless and inhumane manner? Continue reading →
